Many speakeasies in Berlin aren’t really speakeasies. They’re well known and very easy to find.
Take for instance Fahimi.
This dusky Kreuzberg space located off a parking garage stairwell would be difficult to find – but for the hanging sign outside screaming Fahimi Bar and the notice on the door.
Speakeasy or not, the lights are low, the patrons are cheerful, the staff is friendly and the large glass windows allow you to gaze upon the rush of passing elevated trains. The view is mesmerizing, reminding us of sitting at Perry Street in New York and looking out at the continuous Westside Highway traffic.
As for the music, it was spot on.
While there, the speakers showered the room with tunes such as “Dejavu” by Van Solo, “Fuel Injected” by Swollen Members & Moka Only, and “Beat Up The Bouncer” by Rok One.
Fahimi is a place where you can relax and revel. Is it a speakeasy? Maybe the hidden private room in the back where we saw a pinata hanging off the ceiling is!
