La Plage, a French-American bistro in Wading River, New York, was given extraordinarily high marks by one of our local friends.
The New York Times once named La Plage as the most romantic restaurant on Long Island.
But our friend lauded the Long Island restaurant for its menu, particularly the steak au poivre, which occasionally finds its way onto the menu.
Said our friend of the dish: "It's the best I've ever had."
The location isn't shabby either. Before or after your meal, you can walk across the street to a hamlet beach, where you're able to stroll along to the lapping waves of the Long Island Sound.
Reservations encouraged.
