Legend has it that White Manna's burgers were served at the 1939 World Fair (as part of a pavilion exhibition), and found their way to Hackensack, New Jersey, in 1946.
These burgers are beloved – flaunted on many a best list. And they really do hold up to their reputation.
The burgers are of the slider variety – small fresh patties fried on a griddle and served on warm, tiny potato rolls with your choice of cheese, grilled onions, ketchup and a side of pickles.
For those not in the know, White Manna is set inside a cramped Deco-styled diner-like cabin, which is also part of its charm.
Patrons crowd around the counter to witness patties being made right in front of them.
You can order online but we recommend waiting to grab one of the few available seats and dining right there.
If you haven't tried White Manna, you're in for a treat. We're getting hungry just writing about the place.
