Some may go to Studio 151 for the drinks or food, but we go here for not so much the sips and nibbles, but for the music, the scene and the people.
While in the East Village, Studio 151 feels straight out of Tokyo. Find the yellow light by the door, walk up the steps, reach for the buzzer to the left of the gate, press and enter.
Once inside, it's listening lounge-y clubhouse for cool kids. Along with a prominent bar and sushi-making station there's loft-style seating along with naked lady art, hip albums on display and a vinyl DJ spinning crystal-clear tracks.
Expect a little different vibe each night. A lounge and EDM energy on Saturday. Brazilian tunes on Sunday. A producer night - in combo with adjoining club Nublu - on Monday. Rock n' roll on Tuesday. That sort of thing.
No matter the day it's an electric space that warrants a drink and maybe an order of edamame or a handroll. But remember, you're not there for their sushi.
Late night, chairs are cleared and the place turns into a club.
Reservations strongly encouraged.
