While hidden and tucked away, Schwarze Traube is another example of a speakeasy that’s not a speakeasy,
Just plug in the address, walk to a residential Kreuzberg street and look for a big glass window glowing with candles and amber light.
Schwarze Traube (or Black Grape) exudes warmth and chill with its leather couches, wooden chairs and (when we were there) mellow jazzy tracks.
Each night the bartender produces only three cocktails of their choosing – so you never know what’s on the menu.
The night we arrived the bar was serving a strawberry daiquiri, a vodka sour and a gin old fashion.
Honestly, the drinks tasted like they were made by a teenager raiding mom and dad’s liquor cabinet. But the bartender and the server were so damn cute (and serious about their cocktails) and the place was so darn cool, we would have imbibed anything they placed in front of us.
A bit away from the action, Schwarze Traube is a good option if you want to launch an adventure or to unwind after a fruitful day of exploring Berlin.
