Over several hundred years, the Bourse de Commerce has taken the form of a corn exchange, a stock exchange and a chamber of commerce headquarters. Now the neoclassical building is home to a contemporary art museum. And it’s an inspiration.
Architecturally, it’s a blend of old and new. The Bourse’s interior features a grand rotunda and muralled cupola (along with an ancillary intertwining “double helix” marble staircase). These older hallmarks are now exquisitely offset by the modern concrete touches of Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Then there’s the art. We think it’s the best collection of contemporary works we’ve ever seen under one roof… or cupola. It is the personal collection of Francois-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of luxury group, Kering, that holds Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and Stella McCartney amongst many others.
A crown jewel of the city. Reserve now.
