The village of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons is the sum of its parts.
It's a quaint former whaling town, a celebrity getaway, a bayside retreat, a shopping lane, a theater spot, a glitzy marina, a pleasant stop to grab a meal, drink or ice cream cone with friends.
Now it's a spot for a belly-warming burger, as well.
From the owner of Brooklyn's Red Hook Tavern and Hometown Bar-B-Que comes the Sag Harbor Tavern.
The restaurant, across from the marina, opened in May of 2024 and keeps receiving buzz for its American fare.
But it's the dry-aged burger that gets the most attention.
A friend recommended it to us - and it lived up to expectations (though next time we'll order it with fries instead of the yummy kale salad.)
Note to self: don't order kale salad at a tavern known for its burger and fries.
Dish aside, the restaurant is charmingly housed in an active American Legion Hall.
The quirkiness only adds to the experience.
