The rascal burger. At half the heft and half the price, it's perfectly satisfying without weighing me down.

And our NY-er friend is not wrong. Each burger whether full-sized or rascal is a chargrilled, juicy classic with a perfectly toasted bun, and a sour pickle slice. The full size comes with sweet, delicious, shoestring fries.

And here, they don’t ask you how you’d like it done, it just comes out perfect, whether rascal or full-size, with a side of Dijon mustard before you have to make a special request. Both, real pro moves.

A Slice of Old New York: From Grocery to Speakeasy

Over the years, famous faces like Bob Dylan, Chris Rock, Chloe Sevigny, Chuck Close, Emily Ratajkowski, Nicholas Braun and Rocky Graziano have all stopped by.

If history is your thing, the Prince Street building started as a grocery in the 1840s, became a saloon in the 1860s, and later operated as a speakeasy during Prohibition. 

According to buffs, Fanelli Cafe is the “second oldest food and drink establishment on the same site” in New York City. (For these keeping score, the first is likely Fraunces Tavern, located in the Financial District and established in 1762.) 

Wherever Fanelli Cafe ranks, it remains a favorite for locals, tourists, and an occasional celebrity.
