This painting of a gentleman doctor caught my eye as I was registering as a guest at a NYC midtown law firm, heading to a reception on the 43rd floor. I walked up close to check out the name of the artist and recognised the last name to be Vietnamese. And imagined in my head the Vietnamese artist drawing a portrait of an expatriate doctor serving remote and foreign lands.
Lo and behold, Ahn Duong is a French-born American model, actress and artist that modelled Yves Saint Laurent for Vogue as well as J. Crew and Banana Republic campaigns.
She hung out with Julian Schnabel and painted at Andy Warhol's Montauk estate.
Her most recent exhibition was entitled La Tentation d'Exister / There is Always Champagne in the Fridge. She is an artist of my heart.
