Suzanne Santoro, born in Brooklyn in 1946, is a celebrated artist whose career is defined by a profound exploration of femininity and intimacy.
After graduating from the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York, Santoro embarked on a transformative journey that led her to Rome around 1969, where she became deeply influenced by the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the city.
Among her many acclaimed works, one series stands out as a testament to her artistry and vision: Blood Roses (2004-2009).
This collection of tempera paintings on colored paper delves into the complex dimensions of womanhood. The vibrant yet delicate imagery captures themes of intimacy, sensuality, and the enduring strength of the female experience.
Santoro's use of color is both unique and vibrant, blending rich oranges and reds that captivate the viewer. Her works possess an alluring quality reminiscent of Georgia O'Keeffe, drawing you in with their depth and beauty.
Blood Roses will be showcased at Lovay Fine Arts in Geneva, marking Santoro’s first exhibit at this vibrant gallery, which promotes the work of accomplished contemporary artists.
The show runs from January 17 to March 8, 2025, offering audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience her work in a thoughtfully curated setting.
