Anthony Bourdain went to Sip’n Soda with his daughter for Lime Rickey cherry sodas.
Jackie O. took JFK Jr. there for ice cream.
Sip’n Soda has been around since 1958 - and while there have been some changes over the years (like faux-wood panelled walls and refurbished pleather cushion seats) there are some special touches that connect you with the diner’s comfort food history.
Look past the updates, and you’ll find charm in the open kitchen, the counter seating, the original woodwork around the booths, the hanging signboard, the terrazzo flooring, and the working telephone booth in the back.
This is just a good old-fashioned luncheonette.
You may like it, like we do, for a breakfast sandwich with a side of nicely salted hash browns and a cup of hot coffee (with a free refill).
Just remember to bring cash (or use the diner’s ATM). Like many Hamptons luncheonettes, Sip’n Soda is cash only.
TRIVIA: Sip’n Soda feels similar to Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton. And there is a connection. Sip’n Soda founder James Parash (1936 - 2021) was born in an apartment above Candy Kitchen, the restaurant his parents owned from 1925 to 1946.
