From contributor Alice Lonfat-Chu:
A friend recently asked why should one visit the Sen-oku Hakuko Kan museum in Kyoto.
I replied, "Don't you want to see the world's largest collection of stunning antique bronzes outside of China?"
I won't tell you his reply :)
But this is a very special museum and the hundreds of Chinese bronze works -- collected by Japan's dynastic family Sumitomo -- are a sight to behold.
I highly encourage you to visit Sen-oku Hakuko Kan next time you visit Kyoto, especially if you like bronzes and museums as much as me.
NOTE: The museum is closed for renovation until Spring 2025 and in the past was only open during specific months. Check below for hours upon reopening.
