Photographer and gallery owner Albert Delamour’s connection with art and design started when he was a teenager.
At 16, he began studying photography at the French Air Force training academy - and furthered his understanding of the craft while maintaining camera equipment and taking aerial photos as a member of the famed Lafayette 2/4 squadron.
Afterwards, Albert lived in Paris, studied advertising and fashion photography, and ran his own studio for many years.
On a trip to New York, he fell for the city, its blue skies, and its people.
He moved there with Michele Mariaud, a marketer who helped McDonald’s gain prominence in France and also expanded Lillet’s presence in America.
Michele found her calling in art, showing pieces first in the living room of her and Albert’s SoHo loft.
While Michele was branching out as a gallerist, Albert was transitioning from a commercial shooter to an art photographer, designing Kodak’s billboard in Times Square, filling Firmenich’s New York headquarters with his work, and displaying his images in Henri Bendel’s Fifth Avenue windows.
For 16 years, Michele ran her namesake gallery.
And now, after her passing, Albert has taken up her cause, opening new gallery locations in Bellport, NY, and Paris.
The goal remains the same - to spread joy by featuring fascinating contemporary works and seeing them end up in people's homes.
