The Margaux restaurant at the Marlton Hotel in New York City’s Greenwich Village has been our hangout for years.
We’ll sit in a horseshoe-shaped booth with friends and stay for hours, where you can mix business with pleasure. And this is the best seat in the house.
You can also get a small booth at the bar, with your friend or your ipad.
Or sit in the cozy front lobby space which transforms from an espresso bar to cocktail lounge as the day moves through its hours.
No matter where you sit, it's great atmosphere. There’s something magical in the air – as you’re in the building where Jack Kerouac wrote two novellas, “The Subterraneans" and "Tristessa.”
Tip: You’ll be okay with the salmon tartine for breakfast (though it seems to be shrinking before our eyes) and the chicken sandwich at lunch - with a cup of jolting java on the side.
