First of all, you never say Ca-pree’. It’s Ca’-pree.
Second of all, there are two Capri’s. There is Capri, the fancy, touristy, aggressive tax-free shopping, and people-watching Capri. And then there is Anacapri. Which might as well be called Anti-Capri.
Anacapri is easy-going, slow-paced, charming, and light, while having more gravitas.
Sort of like the older but prettier and fresher Boleyn sister.
Yet, Anacapri is where you have the two-Michelin star restaurant. The beach club with the alluring mermaid-like local girls. The hot DJ Fabio playing for you at sunset…. straight towards due west.
While Capri is not to be skipped – the outdoor bar of Grand Hotel Quisisana where the fasionable Via Camerelle starts is sill the best place to see and be seen in the world – we felt a bit cheated not having been told about Anacapri before. To such a degree that we wondered whether it was intentional. Am I finally blowing the world’s best kept secret?
