From Wonder Shuffle contributor Jeff Day:
The Armory Show after all these years...
The Manhattan art fair season kicked off during September's first week with many offerings. The 30th edition Armory Show held court at the sprawling Jacob Javits Center.
Representing contemporary art’s best, the newly aspiring old and young image makers represented by 235 galleries from East and West, this show has a little of everything for the collector's gaze.
Originating in the Gramercy Park Hotel, I chuckle at the “luxury mattress booth", its cross section display of support materials between plexiglass an abstract sculpture fit right in. The jewelry booth, guards at the ready, a statement itself, corporate sponsorship in addition to the food and bubbly stall.
Indeed much has changed since those Gramercy days when Pat and Colin held forth. Below are the works I enjoyed!
