Who invented the puffed corn curl, one of America's most favorite snack foods?
The Elmer family of New Orleans takes pride in saying they not only created the crunchy treat (which they called CheeWees) in the 1930s, but they also licensed their technology to Frito-Lay for Cheetos in the 1950s.
Five generations later, the Elmer family is making a broader push for their CheeWees to be enjoyed by all.
Already a snack food staple in New Orleans, the brand has many fans, including the rapper Juvenile (who partnered up with company to produce a limited run of extra-spicy CheeWees) and the NFL's Ja'Marr Chase, who was once spotted with a whole box of them in his locker.
Next up is you.
So if you're looking for a baked (not fried) treat, with a variety of flavors, you can't go wrong with these curls.
