El Palmar Beach on Costa de la Luz is the epicentre of all action on this Spanish Southwestern Coast of Light in the State of Cadiz. You will also hear about Playa Mangueta, a bit of a quieter stretch of sand where there is horseback riding on the beach (and nudists supposedly hang out), Playa de Zahora, and Playa de los Canos de Meca for kitesurfing further down south.
But if you want to be in the Montauk of Spain, with the surfers and skateboarders and delicious tuna poke bowls and shrimp tacos, you come straight to El Palmar Beach.
And you come to Homies. With a restaurant serving a super beach-y menu from breakfast burritos to sunset cocktails, a surf school with the nicest English-speaking instructors, and a half pipe for skateboarding in back providing endless amounts of visual amusement while sipping beer and waiting for a table, it is no puzzle that we ended up at Homies every day whether for breakfast, a surf lesson, or a takeaway beer.
You know how time shifts a bit when you enter Montauk? The same happens, when you arrive at Playa de El Palmar.
