This is a pin for you to start exploring the neighborhoods of Samcheongdong and Bukchon. Two parallel roads and a myriad of side streets, this area close to the Blue House (Korea’s White House), is where nobility and aristocrats lived back in the day. Not only does the current President reside in this area, but Kyungbokgoong Palace of the Chosun Dynasty is here.
Once deemed outdated as modern Seoulites moved to the newly developed south side (south of Han River, to be exact, also known as Gangnam), this area went through a re-gentrification in the past couple of decades and is now one of our most favourite areas to explore in Seoul.
Complete with adorable cafes and unique shops - some that can only be supported by true passion and a legacy, like a hand-pressed and hand-made book binding shop we later learned the proprietor was born in and owned the whole building - the area is home to the best galleries showcasing both Korean and international artists. The Korean National Contemporary Art Museum is also here,
