This is a pin for you to start exploring the neighborhoods of Samcheongdong and Bukchon. Two parallel roads and a myriad of side streets, this area close to the Blue House (where the President resides), is where nobility and aristocrats lived back in the day. Not only is the President's residence in this area, but also Kyungbokgoong Palace of the Chosun Dynasty.
Once discarded like outdated clothing as modern Seoulites moved to the south side (south of Han River, to be exact), the area went through a re-gentrification in the past couple of decades and is now one of our most favorite areas to explore in Seoul.
Complete with adorable cafes and unique shops that can only be supported by a trust fund - like a hand-pressed and hand-made book binding shop, you later find out the owner was born in and owns the whole building - as well as all the best galleries showcasing both Korean and international artists and the Korean National Contemporary Art Museum, you will need to dedicate a full day to explore the area.
Thankfully, we have some restaurant and cafe recommendations to break up your day and rest your legs.
