From searing still life images of cut flowers to existential themes of temptation, identity and appropriation, Albert Delamour has challenged and excited art enthusiasts with his lustrous, eye-opening works.
Below are images from five of his series.
In “Wonderland,” Albert infuses artificial color into wooded environments, creating atmospheric and other-worldly landscapes.
Inspired by Caravaggio’s examinations of justice, sin and society, Albert explores the concept of masks before the 2020 pandemic. His “Icons” was a reflection of people through the power, individuality and expressiveness of their eyes.
In “Looking for Richard,” Albert snaps photos of White Sands National Park in New Mexico and then (with a tip of a cowboy hat to art appropriator Richard Prince) inserts Marlboro Man images into his own desert scenes.
Other works by Albert include his “Cut & Uncut” flower prints as well as his “My Little Planet” compositions, which are based on drone photos of places where artists used to live, including Claude Monet’s home in Giverny, France (see above); Jack Pollock’s studio in Springs, New York; and Georgia O'Keeffe's ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
