Deli dishes – such as pastrami and Reuben sandwiches – are the order of the day at an old Jewish girls’ school that memorializes the past and looks to the future.
After exploring the building, we recommend sitting down here (outside when it’s nice) and ordering a large sandwich so you can fully savor the specially brined and spiced meat. The medium sandwich has the same amount of bread and just half the meat.
Don’t get turned-off by the tourist-y vibe, with English menus on a sidewalk chalkboard including an oddly misplaced French onion soup. This is a special spot people travel across the city to visit, and the pastrami is the freshest and cleanest we have ever tasted. That means a lot, given we live in NYC most of the year.
Mogg is cash only and the nearest ATM machine is a healthy walk away… so please bring those Euros.
