This place is terrific--just what a bookstore should be. It's cozy and quirky, full of all kinds of interesting books in three languages, has charming quotes on signs (also in three languages), and includes an adorable children's section in a tiny room, perfect for small readers.

I stopped in to pick up some books to read while flying, and although my total didn't quite come to $50, they gifted me a tote bag, just what I needed to carry them on the plane.

With this well-curated selection of books and lovingly-decorated shop, you can tell that Desperate Literature is a labor of love, created by booksellers who are passionate about the written word.

I was alarmed to see a sign requesting assistance--they were being kicked out of their space and needed help from their customers. When I paid for my books, I asked about it, and fortunately, they have secured another location--they'll be moving in February 2025.

I could easily have spent hours there--and when I have the chance to visit them at their new and larger shop, I will.
