Entering the depths of Micronesia's Chuuk Lagoon was an eerie experience.
We dove around wrecks and into the guts of the sunken ships: engine rooms, tools, sake bottles, gas masks, trucks, bathrooms, torpedoes and piles of shoes.
Endless guns and ammunition.
The names of wrecks included the Fujikawa Maru, the Kyozumi Maru, the Haein Maru, the Rio de Janerio, the Gosei Maru, the Sankisen Maru, the Fumichi Maru, the Shinkoku Maru, the Yamagiri Maru, the Kansho Maru, the Hoki Maru, the Unkai Maru, the Nakajima Maru, the Nippo Maru, and the Betty Bomber.
Below are some exceptional photos by co-diver Heidi Hu except the first photo (taken by the author) and the last (by Sofie Hostyn).
