Walking into Duryea’s feels like walking into a beach club restaurant in Ibiza - from the beige white sails shielding you from the sun, all the way down to the music and the little shop next door.
So despite the steep prices and its infamous hundred dollar lobster cobb salad, the vibe and atmosphere is quite refreshing.
They don't take reservations, so best to go for a late lunch or early dinner around 4 or 5pm, and you can also watch the sunset - which can be an exquisite experience. Also, the plates are meant to share, so no need to over-order.
There is a little piece of beach you can stroll on after your meal. Pity you cannot take your drink down there - a reminder that you're NOT in Ibiza - but it's lovely and relaxing, and the smell of seaweed will be deep and refreshing.
We adore the European beach club vibe. This is as close as you will get to Europe in the Hamptons.
