The people who created the much-missed Taboon in NYC (destroyed in a fire in 2021, leaving the residents of Hell's Kitchen quite bereft) have opened a stunningly good restaurant in sleepy Fairfield, Connecticut. If you find yourself in the vicinity, do stop in for excellent Mediterranean cuisine, unlike anything else in the area.
Highlights: flatbread, spicy feta, smoked garlic eggplant dip, skirt steak, just about anything they have as a special. (I am rather hoping that their artichoke appetizer makes it on to their permanent menu--I would return just for that.)
There's an octopus painted on the wall in front of the kitchen, a line of trees running through the dining room, an enthusiastic, attentive, and well-informed waitstaff, and a good, albeit pricy, wine list.
