NEW YORK, NY, October 24 , 2024 -- The New York Liberty are WNBA Champions, their first from their 1997 founding.
A seasonally warm windy day greeted spectators in the tens of thousand lining the route known as the Canyon of Hero's.
The Champions greeted by a frenzied fan base waving liberty flags, dressed in their hero’s misty green colors holding signs of gratitude for only the third time a women’s team has been so honored, a ticker-tape parade.
Jonquel Jones, the liberty’s star center MVP held the Championship trophy aloft to the delighted chants of young and old voices alike.
Guard Betnijah Laney-Hamilton greeted the enchanted throngs along the barricades high-fiving, posing for selfies, and hugging the little ones, so breathlessly enamored by her gracious hugs, the inspiration for little girl dreams of one day playing for their beloved New York Liberty.
A ticker-tape parade like no other!
