President Kim Young Sam must have had good taste. There are noodles named after him - YS Noodles, check out Sohojung below - and I found pictures of him and his wife on the walls when we walked into this restaurant called Country Table.
It looks like a rest stop on the highway between Seoul and the East Coast of the Korean Peninsula. But the giant mushroom sculpture in front of the restaurant drew me in like Alice in Wonderland. And I was so grateful.
The host and hostess are wonderful, the host a classically trained sculptor that put his artistic career on the back burner for 30 years and is now right back at it with a vengeance.
Order the Mushroom and Bulgoki Dinner Set and it comes with their homemade stinky tofu stew. Order a side of potato pancakes. And pay attention to the nicknacks and sculpture pieces littered around the establishment both inside and out.
Don't miss this spot.
