We love the Iberian Peninsula and have numerous recommendations all across Spain and Portugal - North, East, South and West. But if you are talking fresh seafood, especially crustaceans and mollusks, hands down the Northeastern corner of the peninsula called Galicia is the one and only winner. Where everything from lobster to barnacles make you feel like a mermaid... or a merman. Perhaps that is why we were so taken by this place, along with the too-cool-to-care yet constant people-watching block party vibe, complete with metal folding chairs and a street closure permit.
Don't expect to walk over and get a table. But the fun is in leaving your name and meandering around Dimes Square, stopping in Biggie's Bodega, lounging a bit at Percelle (see another card below), and when you get that text you can stroll back and put in your first martini order. Get the manila clams with vinho verde, and also the sliced beef (essentially carpaccio) with charred cabbage and aged sherry. If you are an insider, they will give you the charred cabbage, which is delightful, with almost about anything they have in the kitchen.
