Anker means Anchor in German. It is our seafood restaurant in Greenport, right across from Green Hill and next to Alpina. Everyone loves the upstairs deck — it’s bright, airy, with yellow-and-white striped awnings, and the best views of the harbor.
The best seats in the house? At the end of the upstairs bar, perfect for a date night, looking right out over the water.
Everyone loves grilled fish on an open flame. It also ties back to our European background: it’s one of the cleanest ways to enjoy fish, as opposed to it being seared in oil. It doesn’t get cleaner — or tastier — than that.
We have a big wood-fired grill downstairs, made by a local ironworker from Norfolk Ironworks. And we are adding another wood-fired grill this season.
The oysters here are the real deal. We’re in one of the most pristine oyster farming grounds in the world — the Peconic Bay area — and we’ve got relationships with some of the best local oyster farmers.
Each one is a little different, depending on where and how they’re grown — sandy bottom vs. marshy ground, floating baskets vs. low baskets — and you can really taste it. Get the oyster tower and try them side by side.
We’re keeping it simple — classic American seafood, done really well. Last year, we had chef Will Horowitz (who's also a player on Food Network) inspire our menu. He experimented with things like fish collars, which are often overlooked cuts, making them great. This year we are lucky to have Chef Humberto oversee all our kitchens, as he brings everything to perfection. We’ll be doing the collars again this year - which is also very sustainable - and keep with the basics: fresh fish, done right.
We’re putting a ton of effort into redesigning the downstairs bar — making it cozier, more inviting, and adding a sports bar element, but with a twist. We don’t want to show football or basketball — we want to be the local hub for sailing broadcasts.
Don’t miss the wood-fired grilled fish like you see in Europe. It’s going to change the game. ⚓️
