From Yogeswari, a senior Jivamukti teacher and founder and president of AZAHAR Foundation:
Hiltl has been a vegetarian restaurant since 1898 - making it the world’s first of its kind.
The original eatery is still in Old Town (Haus Hiltl, mapped below).
But the health food haven has other locations around Zurich - including three around the old quarters (Hiltl Pflanzbar, Hiltl Dachterrasse - this one has a roof terrace - and Hiltl Sihlpost) and two beachy spots by the lake (Hiltl am Strand and Hiltl am See).
A variety of buffet and at-table options are available for vegans and vegetarians.
Hiltl’s dishes range from salads and pastas to plant-based meats and desserts.
And, if you like Hiltl’s approach and style, the company teaches classes, caters, and rents out spaces for events and seminars.
NOTE: Hiltl’s buffet works much the same as the Tibits vegetarian chain of restaurants. You fill your dish and pay by weight.
