Cadiz City, the capital of the State of Cadiz, is a hip old town with coveted sunsets and a culture you want to just bottle up and take everywhere around you in your purse. And that special combination of beach and town is like a secret scent, when you get it just right, you never want to let it go.
There are many little tapas bars that start lighting up late afternoon in Cadiz, and this area in the old town, a few blocks in from the beach, Playa de La Caleta, turned out to be a very special place. A bit removed from the old town center - more bustling and cultured - but leisurely, relaxed, we were drawn to not only the establishments, but the chill, cool, and future-focused energy of the proprietors and patrons.
You can start at Taberna Casa Manteca, which is what we did. Explore the neighbouring blocks. Try a different spot each night. One of them may become your special place.
