It may sound crazy but street food in Cartagena is a must-try, and I have a few recommendations to share.
First, don’t miss the mango biche con sal—fresh green mango slices topped with salt and lime. You’ll find women selling these on the streets or carts piled high with mangos. It’s a simple yet refreshing treat.
Another street-side favorite is shaved ice, sold from carts all around the city. The kola flavor with condensed milk is the most authentic and an absolute classic—I eat those all the time!
I also enjoy the fried snacks but totally up to you. Try a caribanola (also called carimagnola), a crispy yucca patty stuffed with ground beef. Arepa de huevo, a deep-fried arepa filled with egg, is another iconic choice. For something unique, kibbe (inspired by Lebanese cuisine) combines spiced beef and bulgur wheat in a deliciously crispy shell.
Cartagena’s street food is a flavorful experience that’s well worth exploring!
