Set in the fictitious New York town of Amity (located somewhere between Bridgehampton and East Hampton), the book Jaws follows the experiences of an anxious town cop, his dissatisfied wife and a homicidal shark.
There are people who really like the novel and some passages are much different than what's in the movie. But to us, Jaws is a dull and dated read... so much so that we nearly cheered for the fish.
We think it's best to rewatch the film instead. Great acting, lots of suspense, masterful directing and a monologue to end all monologues.
Still, your call. But better to be forewarned than shark bit.
