While at Jennifer Tattanelli’s design shop in Florence I met her grandfather Antonio, who was kind enough to take me for a nearby espresso while my wife looked around the store.

We walked to a nearby café, ordered two espressos and each finished them with two sips.

One, two and done. We chit-chat.

We pay. We walk back.

Antonio was amazing. We had so much fun talking.

I talked about my business. He talked about his. And he walked me through the family store and the courtyard.

I ask him if he knows any jewelry shops. We had visited a few and nothing clicked. The salespeople weren’t helpful.

Antonio finds a card and says we need to go to “Solid Gold 18K.”

He says, “Tell them Antonio sent you.”

My wife and I walk up to Ponte Vecchio, the bridge filled with jewelry shops from one side to the other. Overwhelming, if you don’t know where to go.

We enter “Solid Gold 18K” at 42R Ponte Vecchio and found it to be a quality shop – tax-free and open all day.
