We enjoyed our time at Kissaki on Bowery. A bit of a follower of (and unrelated to) the legendary Sushi of Gari, you are served creative morsels of sushi already dressed and dabbed in soy sauce, ginger, chives, lime zest or yuzu jello. It is quite an experience if you are not a traditionalist.
If you are a traditionalist, you may raise your eyebrow to see that they serve the rich and fatty toro with lime zest - their proudest piece - first, and the lighter white fish like sea bream later.
With the Owner from Uzbekhistan and Executive Chef from Mexico, they definitely don't follow the rules. But it's an interesting experience nonetheless, and in addition to the omakase, they also have an a la carte menu with an uni pasta dish I'd like to try.
If you are not a sushi snob, you can enjoy this place. They are creative and successful, with a couple of locations in NYC, as well as Long Island, the Hamptons and Miami.
