Le Grain de Sel is not necessarily hidden, in fact it is roadside. And probably everyone knows the restaurant. But on the island it is hidden, in the sense that it is a million miles away from the champagne bubbles, celebrities and magnums of rose delivered to your chaise lounge on the beach in oversized ice buckets.
This is a French-Creole restaurant where you can order excellent grilled whole fish, grilled octopus, and also sea urchin dishes. It's a respite from the ubiquitous tuna tartar and lobster ravioli in cream sauce that every fancy restaurant seemed to offer - same ingredients, same recipe.
Despite the gorgeous, fancy, and gay meals we had in Gustavia, I loved this simple little outdoor dining restaurant that was at the entry to the Grande Saline beach the most.
