From contributor Elena Alonso:
“There are two places in Miami I go and bring my out of town guests: Cafe La Trova and Doce Provisions. Both are in Little Havana, on Calle Ocho (8th Street), that’s where all the Cuban immigrants first lived. My family, my grandmother, stayed in a hotel there before they were situated.
“Every night at Cafe La Trova you will find Cuban musicians performing upbeat tunes. It’s an old-school scene with good food and better music. It’s a place so loud and lively you can’t talk with your friends. But you don’t come here for conversation. You’re here for the electric atmosphere. And maybe you can dance a few moves in the tight space.
“And it doesn’t hurt that it’s listed as one of the world’s top bars, as well.”
