You know my love of markets and we can't thank Lana enough for these awesome tips.
Cours Saleya is Nice’s most famous market, and for good reason. Mornings bring overflowing stalls of vibrant flowers, fragrant herbs, and the kind of fresh produce that makes shopping here a joy. Fresh juices? Wonderful. If you’re staying in an apartment, this is where you stock up. The quality is top-shelf, and it makes cooking at home a treat.
Come Monday, the scene shifts. The flower stalls vanish, replaced by antique dealers with some serious finds. Vintage Chanel bags, old furniture, silver, and classic French tableware—it’s an open-air trove of treasures. Even if you’re not in the market for anything, it’s worth a browse.
From June through September, Cours Saleya doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. After 6 PM, the market transforms into an artisanal night market, with local crafts, handmade goods, and a whole different kind of atmosphere. Open until midnight, it’s a perfect stroll-and-shop stop on a warm summer evening.
The best stalls (and all the food and produce) close around 1 PM, so go early for the freshest picks.
