Parcelle arrived to Dimes Square after the word already got out about the hip little triangle on the Eastern edge of Chinatown drawing designers, writers and architects. That doesn't diminish the cool, casual atmosphere at Parcelle, and the area still has plenty of that relaxed sexy vibe going, especially on a warm summer night. I've always been a fan of the Asian night markets that takeover the streets and back alleyways as the day's commerce starts shutting down, and Dimes Square is the closest you can find of that in the US.
Walk into Parcelle and relax on the sofa, try a bite of uni toast or a fried oyster with celery root, and ask for the special drink that is not on the menu.
It's not a rare bottle of wine, it's actually a special brand of cola! This ancient-looking Cola Baladin was created in 2011, and is produced only using cola nuts from the Kenema (Africa) Slow Food Presidium. Hence, the natural, gorgeous amaranth color.
I'm not telling you to skip the wine by any means, but just letting you in on a little off menu secret.
