I still dream of this place, the briny smell of the seaside, the glittering sun bouncing off the water, the first bite into a crispy, salty char-grilled shrimp, delight at a plate of fish-eggs, and a refreshing glass of Albarino, Galician white wine.
We strolled along the promenade on Christmas Eve Day to find the locals walking the sandbanks during low tide and picking up and eating fresh sea urchin with their families. Everyone was there, newborn babies to grandpa and grandma with gnarled hands. A local gentleman waved me over, shared a half shell of sea urchin with me, and some white wine in a tin cup.
I could have stayed with that family all day, I had no shame. But we walked a bit further along the water, and found our own slice of heaven at Bar Club Caleta.
