Once an old prison, police station and magistracy complex in Central, Hong Kong, Tai Kwun is now a beautifully renovated warren of shops and restaurants.
You’ll never be without good food and drink options here.
My recommended spots:
Botanical Garden at The Magistracy - An extensive gin and tonic collection in an outdoor garden space.
Prince and the Peacock - Great Indian cuisine, or visit their bar, Jack’s Racquet Room, to have a drink and watch cricket.
There are also two very good Chinese restaurants at Tai Kwun.
One is Madame Fu Grand Cafe Chinois (from the former owner of the legendary and now-shuttered Kee Club) ; the other is The Chinese Library.
