We loved the museums in Malaga. And the expat scene was alluring. But it was a town were the tourist culture seemed to have overtaken the locals. And we were not fond of that aspect.
However, there were many redeeming qualities to Malaga, which probably is why it continues to thrive. First, there is Picasso. Not only the Picasso Museum, but the house where he was born. Then there is more art - I hesitate to make a super big deal out of it as it was, technically, a pop-up, but we loved the Pompidou Centre of Paris's pop-up in Malaga. And last but not least, there is Casa Lola, a stone's throw from the Picasso Museum.
Try the carpaccio of octopus, mini lamb kebabs, tuna tartar, and of course, the Iberian ham.
