Sabatini is a place we like in Trastevere when we’re looking for something more polished. The restaurant serves excellent fish, very good wine, and has that old-school feel, like it’s been there forever. Located on Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, it offers prime people-watching in one of the liveliest squares in Rome.
Executive Chef Paolo Fugali leads the kitchen. The crowd at Sabatini skews older and more formal than the usual young Trastevere scene, making it a great option when you want something refined but still surrounded by the buzz of the neighborhood.
The best way to enjoy Sabatini is outside on the piazza, with a glass of wine and an appetizer, taking in the energy of Trastevere while sitting in a more classic setting. You don’t need to sit inside for the full experience.
