If film festivals are your thing, save a date for the San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF), which has bestowed its "Golden Shell" award to thought-provoking movies since the 1950s.
Past winners of the SSIFF's highest prize have included Francis Ford Coppola's Rumble Fish (1984); Terrence Malick's Badlands (1974); and Eric Rohmer's Le Genou de Claire (1971).
One big festival plus: it doesn't hurt that the event takes place in San Sebastian, a Spanish city that instantly charms with its city beaches, cosmopolitan vibes and hip residents and visitors.
For more information about the festival, please visit SSIFF's official site.
