All the locals pointed us in the direction of Los Manueles. They have been around since 1917. There are several locations, all close to each other, and we tried the one on Reyes Catolicos.
You can reserve a table at the more formal restaurant upstairs, but the action seemed to be at the bustling bar on the ground floor, and in spite of availability upstairs, the line out the backdoor winding through the alleyway on a cold winter night signalled a worthy wait.
When you are finally seated, you are immediately served a complimentary house tapa and all the angst of waiting will melt away.
