It's not a club but it feels like a club--an old-fashioned Anglo-Indian one. This is not a criticism--the interior feels luxurious, the service is impeccably gracious, and the food is rich and delicious.
A Washington DC institution a mere block away from the White House, the Bombay Club is a bit of a throwback, but an absolutely lovely place for dinner. The piano player in the evenings adds to the atmosphere. It's not kid-friendly (in fact, they require diners to be at least eight years old). It is Senator-friendly: you can easily play the Washington DC game of attempting to identify the politicians here.
I recommend the crispy kale, the butternut squash samosa, the paneer tikka, and the lobster lababdar. My dinner companion liked the khubani duck enough to finish it before I had the chance to try it--maybe next time. I'll be sure to be back.
