Seongsudong is a mash-up of all of your favorite neighborhoods.

In Berlin - it would be a mix of Mitte and Kreuzberg.

In Paris - it would be the Marais.

In New York City - it would be the Meatpacking District, 20 years ago.

And the Meatpacking District (when it was cool) is most apt to describe Seongsudong. Formerly a district of run-down warehouses and car centers where you came to fix your banged up automobiles - Seongsudong is now the place of the moment. And you still see car centers and banged up cars amongst the stylish shops and restaurants. Just like the meat grinders used to turn on at 4am while party-goers were still drinking wine at Florent.

In Seongsudong you can find bakeries and coffeeshops and restaurants, but the main attraction are its shops of all different types and sizes, from mom-and-pops, to pop-ups boutiques to international outposts, and Korean flagships.

There are two sections to explore.

One is the Seoul Forrest part with the D Musuem, a row of container shops called Understand Avenue and a contained maze of shops ofcf of it. See the card below with its location pin.

The other section is a bustling main drag called Yeonmujang-gil where this card is pinned. It's a long stretch filled with side streets and myriads to explore.
