We saw so many great street performers in New Orleans.
There was Jesse Stone Cotton thundering on his guitar and drum stand.
There was the Hundreds Brass Band belting out joyous sounds with their beautiful horns.
There was Nathan Berry of Miss Myra & The Moonshiners howling away on some old-school trombone.
But our favorite was Doreen's Jazz New Orleans, led by Dr. Doreen J. Ketchens, a virtuoso of the clarinet.
We, along with scores of other passerbys, stopped in our tracks for a chance to hear her play.
You can see Doreen and her skilled backup band every Friday through Sunday in front of 701 Royal Street from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Or you can catch some of her performances on YouTube. Here's one clip posted by Carol Caffe, which shows why Doreen is known as "The Queen of the Clarinet."
