Venice can be very touristy. Our good friend - a French Normandy girl engaged to an Italian Count - tells us to walk around Cannareggio, Castello and Santa Croce, once you've got your fill of San Marco.
These are glorious, authentic, residential neighbourhoods of Venice, and will be worth the walkabout.
Piazza de San Marco may not take more than 5 minutes, if you are like us.
