From Miss Yvonne ...
"If you find yourself at the crossing of Rue Saint-Bernard and Rue de Charonne, you’ve found culinary treasure… for nearby are three palate pleasers from the Septime restaurant group.
"The first of which is Septime, an expensive, popular seafooder with nouveau touches. You know, foam here and there. Very 80s, sort of funny. Once inside be prepared to sit for hours as you enjoy clean, delicious and different flavors. There’s no set menu. They just ask you what you don’t eat.
"If you’re interested in Septime, reserve far months in advance. And if you can’t get a table at the high-end haunt, don’t fret.
"Next door is a better and cheaper option called Clamato - a seafood and wine bar from the same owners. If Clamato was in New York, forget about it, your meal would be insanely expensive. But Clamato (listed on the map below) is very reasonable for what it is.
"But a word to the wise: get there early. Clamato doesn’t take reservations. If they open at 7, people start showing up at 6:15 pm. Eat some beautiful seafood,, have a gin and tonic or a great Bloody Mary, enjoy the vibe by the bar and then afterwards go to La Cave around the corner.
"La Cave is really small, with bottles of wine, little noshes and amazing music abounding. Try their bread with ricotta and sardines on top. So good, so delicious. It’s great. La Cave is really intimate and very cool."
